Males have long been associated as warriors. Warriors, built to run, to fight, and to kill. Say thousands of years of evolutionary has shaped a male's body in this way and more importantly for this.
Unlike females who specializes in details, a male psychology is shaped around to interpret abstract scenario. A male wander far into the forest for food source. Females stay around home child raising, involves in cooking, decorating the tiny beads to make a necklace, and making homes more usable.
Say, we put a male and female in a maize. While finding their way out of the maize a female will focus on the near object and tracks minute details of each turning, whereas male counterpart are more focused on the overall direction they are moving with respect to the initial position in the long term. Of course both have their pros and cons, But yes, they are made to be with each other to solve this maize.
A mature female can deal with her emotions well, be it by crying, or by other means of expressive relieve. She can stabilize herself in short time. But males are usually confused when it comes to emotions. Be it their trait that helps them while fierce hunting - "never give up", which is not always good specially around "feelings".
A male's emotions is built to win the fight with the beast in the jungle anyhow. He is built to impress the female who might spread his genes into distant future. Males of many species engage in battles with each other for this act.
Therefore, a male will need more time to "move on" when the couple will "break up". He will make up his mind to "give up" & "don't do anything" which counteract his psychology. Examples are many celebrity's crashed marriage in which the male partner is asking to her for some time to patch up his broken heart & heal before divorce. A mature male also takes time to "move in" a relationship.
While a male finds solace for his emotions around the arms of his reciprocating partner, a female finds strength for a family in his arms.
Saying so, I do respect the individuality of each of our 7 billion genders before any generalization in these regards. Yes, there are females physically very much stronger and men who cries a lot.
